sure - up in the northern plains, but what would you do with it? especially at age 16? and you living 1000 miles away and still in school?
cheap land usually means no jobs or few low paying jobs or long job commutes - you would have to dig a well and put in a septic system before ($15-30,000 right there possibly) the land is usable for anything and you have to get it tested before you buy it to see if it can even handle a septic system $300-500 for perc test
if you have $8000 you should be investing it for college for you can get a good job and be able to afford to buy land or a house in 10-15 yrs
Death Valley?
No... probably not for $8k.
Although for $8k you could rent an apartment for several months, or buy a trailer at a trailer park or something lol. Although, you can't really enter into any contracts until you are 18 years old anyways.
Sure! In Oklahoma rural areas (with development on 5/10/20 acre tracts) you can buy land from 1500 - 2500 per acre. That is in areas with very nice homes being built.
in many states, you can buy lots of land for under $200.00.
Would they be easy to get to? NO. Be easily sold? No.
