Was it the extent of land promised by G-d to the Hebrews?

If it goes to the Eurphrates,then Moses would have been there on Mt. Nebo. It would include modern Jordan. So why is he looking across o the west bank as the promised when he dies? Wasn't he already there? What the relevant passages?

First God promised Abraham someplace special for his descendants,which would presumably include Ismail,father of the Arabs,as much as Issac,father of the hebrews. The implication is share. Then in another passage Moses drops dead after viewing the promised land from the east bank of the Jordan. Later on God does another land-grant,this time it goes all the way into iraq,which would mean Mo was already in the promised land.

It's just a load of crap,frankly.

Moses knew nothing to begin with. He wandered 40 years in the desert. A sane person would have asked for directions. All the G-d gave this land to me thing is stupid, I'll tell you.

i don't know the relevant passages offhand but they are highly contradictory. It is no basis for a contemporary territorial claim.

The Bible gives the boundaries as being from the River of Egypt to the Great River (Euphrates).The River of Egypt in this case is not the Nile but is the brook of Egypt in the Sinai desert.The mention of Euphrates does not imply the length of the river but rather its source near Lebanon.The promised land was the strip of territory west of the Jordan River between the Sinai desert and Mount Hermon.Two tribes asked permission of Moses to remain on the east side of the Jordan River.Moses obtained God's approval and these tribes settled there although they sent fighting men to aid the other tribes in the conquest of the land west of the Jordan River.So the Promised Land might also include northwest Jordan.
